Why Bioidentical Hormone Therapy is Best for Menopause Treatment

British Study Finds HRT Used to Treat Menopause Does not Increase the Risk of Dementia

Bioidentical Hormone Therapy Atlanta GAAre you looking for bioidentical hormone therapy for women? A new study has found that hormone replacement therapy does not increase the risk of developing dementia in menopausal and perimenopausal women.

The study was conducted in the UK and published in the BMJ. The researchers concluded that hormone replacement therapy (HRT) does not seem to increase the risk of developing dementia.

This was a very large study. Using UK medical records, the researchers involved in the new study identified 118,501 women age 55 and over who were diagnosed with dementia between 1998 and 2020.

A control group consisted of 497,416 women matched by age and by the same medical practice who had no records for dementia.

Of the women with a dementia diagnosis, they found that 16,291 — 14% — had used HRT. The same percentage of women in the control group, or 68,726 of them, also used the treatment.

While it has been suggested that women who use hormone replacement have a higher risk of dementia, the recent large-scale trial showed no significant difference between those with and without hormones.

According to the study, overall, there were no increased risks of developing dementia associated with menopausal hormone therapy “regardless of hormone type, application, dose, or duration of treatment.

Bioidentical Hormone Therapy

Every day we are learning more about the truth and exploding many of the myths and misconceptions about hormone replacement therapy. It is always good news when we find out more about the safety and effectiveness of hormone replacement therapy to treat menopause.

If you want your HRT experience to go as smoothly and without a few unexpected side effects or risks, then make sure that bioidentical hormones are an option! Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy has become the preferred treatment for men and women suffering from age-related hormone decline symptoms.

Bioidentical hormones are safer and more effective than synthetic hormones, which is why they’re better for your health. Bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT) can offer significant relief from bothersome symptoms that happen just before, during, and after menopause; BHRT also has a low risk of side effects like those experienced with traditional hormone replacement.

If you are between the ages of 35-55, look for these signs and symptoms of your hormone levels being low or out of balance:

  • Weakness and fatigue
  • Depression and mood swings
  • Weight gain
  • Loss of muscle tone
  • Insomnia and/or disturbed sleep patterns
  • Night sweats (women)
  • Hot flashes (women)
  • Erectile Dysfunction (men)

The only way to know if you qualify for bioidentical hormone therapy is through a series of specific diagnostic tests.

If your level of testosterone, growth hormone or other critical age-related hormones is determined to be sub-optimal or otherwise imbalanced, you may meet the criteria for bioidentical hormone therapy.
